I Flunked My CDL!

-
I would have passed the CDL test at the DMV, had the test all been combined, but it was divided into three parts and you had to pass each part separately. I missed passing the last part by one point, so I have to wait a week to take it over. A few answers, I simply forgot. Some were never covered by our textbook (I don’t think). Some were on materials irrelevant to a Class A license, so shouldn’t have even been on the test. A couple were trick questions designed not to prove the “testee’s” knowledge, but to prove the tester’s sneakiness. Had I not simply forgotten a couple things, I would have passed, so I can only blame so much on other folks. I DO feel that four days isn’t adequate time to impress a complicated, unfamiliar subject on a slightly befuddled fellow like myself.

So, I wasted the two-hour drive down, the hour-and-a-half at the DMV, and the two hour drive back. I WAS able to find out that my retest can be taken at the local office, so I was happy to hear that. It’s frustrating, but I’ll do like the old Indian in Josey Wales and “endeavor to persevere.”

That old indian declared war on the white man. lol
Well at least you now know how to play the game, and things will go smoothly next go round.
I wonder if all the mexican truck drivers rolling over the border have to pass the same test you take?
Go back over everything, they may have some more hidden questions next time.

Well darn....sorry to hear that...you'll get it next time! Had been driving truck out of NC for a couple of yrs when we came back to Oh. and when I went to get my license.....yep I failed it lol. Oh n by the way I love Chief Dan George...he's my favorite character in Josey Wales!

Bummer! Good luck on the second try. I remember taking my CDL test. The first 4 questions I had no idea what they were talking about. At first I thought I studied the wrong manual. Fortunately, I got the rest and passed. Shook me at first.

I'm sure the Mexicans DO NOT have to pass any such tests here or there. In old "mayeeko" it's all about how big the bribe is, SF.

I plan to, Mh. AND he was one of my favorites, too!

If any one of those variables had been diferent, Sixbears, I'd have passed. The only one that I can improve, though, is me, so that's what I'll have to do.

Don't feel bad, there would be retests if lots of people didn't fail the first time. I'm supposed to be studying for my ham radio license and I know I won't pass that my first time!

That's a good way to look at it, Kathy.

Shucks that is disappointing, sorry to hear, hang in there, like I said we are bucking for you. Same thing happened to me when I went for my pilots license, and I was devastated. The thing of it was the examiner asked me how I thought I did and I told him where I messed up and he agreed. He said he was confident I knew what I was doing, I just had to be able to do it without a flaw. He had me come back a month later and I passed. I am sure you'll do fine the next time around.

Thanks, Michael; I guess a little come-uppance once in a while is probably good for the soul! :-)

Sorry you didn't pass it the first time. My daughter won't even try to take her learner's test to drive. I took her when school got out and she failed. She didn't really study at all so I didn't feel bad for her. I took her again 2 weeks later I think and she failed again. She turned 16 in November and she has no desire to drive whatsoever! It doesn't make sense to me at all. I couldn't wait to drive when I turned 16. The way they do it now she has to get some paper from the school before she can take the test and it expires so the one she got for the summer is expired and she hasn't tried to get another thing from the school. It makes me wonder if she belongs to me but she looks just like me when I was her age except the hair color and I had freckles. lol

Yikes! Looks like Blogger is eating my comments again! Left you one yesterday saying how sorry I was that you just missed passing the test. But the good news is that you can take it over again and now know what type of questions they will ask.
You can do it, Gorges!!!

I had a friend who took the CBEST, a test that teachers are required to pass. He failed the written part. The strange part is that he was a professional writer. It wasn't until years later that I found he had received a 0. It was clear that they had simply failed to grade it at all. Government is wonderful.

I trust you will make it next time.

Grace and peace.

She'll come around, Angela. Some folks won't attempt something unless they think they can do it well. Her desire will eventually outpace her frustration.

Blogger DOES seem to get awfully hungry at times, Cm. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

I'm sure I will, Pumice; thanks.

I'm so sorry. But, I'm sure you will pass the next time. You can't keep a good guy down.

I'm not sure the third sentence applies, Janet, but I'm going to claim the second one for sure! lol
