I’ve accomplished only the tiniest tasks this last week or so, and THEY could be counted on one hand. It’s been too hot, too muggy and too “thundery” to even take a chance at getting anything much started outside. Yet, despite daily showers, we really haven’t gotten much real moisture at our house. Some folks have, but not us. Still, I got dressed to work outside a little bit ago, but the rain hit just as I opened the door to step out on the porch. As soon as it was barely too wet to bother, the rain stopped. Naturally, the mugginess seemed to double.
We splurged and had lunch out on the 4th, though the prices and cleanliness of the restaurant was a disappointment. We stopped by Chinamart so I could get some Freon(?) for the truck, and I stood in the 97F parking lot and put in the whole can. The shop can’t find the leak, I think because it’s under the dash, not in the engine compartment. Once home, the missus had the house thermostat turned down to 70F for some reason, but the AC couldn’t get it down past 75. I think it was either 91 or 95 outside at the time. I suppose we’ll be having Freon added to the house AC before the summer’s over.
We didn’t see any friends or relatives on the 4th. That’s the norm for us anymore; times have certainly changed. Of course some of the folks that we used to see have passed on. Our time will come soon enough, but that’s okay; we know where we’re going.
Y’all know how I like to grump and growl, just look at the name of my blog if you doubt it, but our lives really aren’t so bad. We have clothes on our backs, food in our bellies, a roof over our heads, a heater and AC to keep us comfortable, two vehicles that run and just barely enough money to scrape by. Some folks in my own area have NONE of those things. God is good to us, even when we aren’t behaving ourselves any too well. Things will all work out, they always do, by the grace of God.
