The wheels on those unsung hero's trucks are going to stop turning on November the 29th according to my son-in-law who is a cross country trucker. He said these idiotic governors in some states have the truck stops and rest areas shut down and they can't get food or showers. Better stock up on a few things so you can ride this protest out.

They should stop delivering to those states only, Alan.

I could spend hours just looking at the old photos here. Thank you for taking your time to share them here.

Gorges, that photo, "Gasoline, 1940s" was posed by O. Winton Link when he was documenting the end of steam, primarily on the Norfolk and Western Railway in the late 1950s. The 131 is a K2a class USRA Heavy Mountain engine withdrawn from service in 1958-1959.

The gasoline pump had been long abandoned (probably in the early '30s) and was used my Mr. Link as a prop for the photo.

There is an exhibit of some of Mr. Link's work adjacent to the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke that is well worth the visit by anyone interested in steam railroading.

Thanks for all these old pictures (and memes) you post.
