Bummer!

 -

For many years, I've left my door unlocked in case I had to call 911. Yesterday, my DIL told me that two milk cartons of items she'd sorted were missing from the upstairs. I guess they heard mr snoring in the back room and figured they were safe. I didn't thin they were worth stealing, but apparently, someone felt otherwise. I guess the days of trust are gone.

  1. It doesn't matter the value. Your castle, your safe place, was invaded. Your faith in humanity also took a hit and that's not nothing.

  2. long gone. As a kid I lived in a truck-farming community not all that far north of NYC; my folks never locked the front door and in the summer the screen door was all the air conditioning we ever had.
Then the "poor unfortunates" who never understood two of the Commandments: תִּגְנֹב לֹא and לֹא תַחְמֹד began coming into the country.

  4. Well, thankfully they didn't spot anything they wanted Really Badly that they knew they couldn't get out without waking you, obviously necessitating your elimination,so they could safely avail themselves of your property. Crummy lesson, but yaknow now leaving the door unsecured, as reasonable as it is, is just not an option.
People suck, man. It's got to eat on a man who lived through the times when unlocked cars and houses was just the way it was to see how it is now.

  5. You need to lock your doors and hide a key outside somewhere. Then if you call 911, just tell them where the door key is hidden. Tell family members where it's hidden also.

  6. My town used to be one of those places where you never thought of locking your door or windows. Now the place is overrun with "culture enrichers," with predictable results. The only safe place now is Heaven. I hear its border policies are ASTOUNDINGLY tight! Hell, on the other hand, is EASY to get into...
